Wednesday's Word

Sermon Summary for Sunday, May 15, 2016 | Pentecost Sunday

One Faith, One Lord, One Baptism

On this Pentecost Sunday, we welcomed Ari and Alva Pratt into our church family with an outpouring of love and joy.  As we collectively recited the Baptismal Covenant, we are reminded that we are not alone.  That in our journey to love others as Christ loved us, we have God's help.  We have the Holy Spirit inside each of us.  Our challenge is to let our sins and ideals fall aside and accept the Spirit in our hearts.

Celebrant Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the prayers?

People I will, with God's help.

Celebrant Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?

People I will, with God's help.

Celebrant Will you proclaim by word and example the Good News of God in Christ?

People I will, with God's help.

Celebrant Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving your neighbor as yourself?

People I will, with God's help.

Celebrant Will you strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being?

People I will, with God's help.

Will you be an active participant in the priesthood of love and share this love in your homes and into the world?

I will, with God's help.  Will you join me?

Respectfully submitted by Jeff Tindall.
