Tuesday's Telling of Sunday's Homily

Sermon Summary for Sunday, August 28th | Respectfully Submitted by Meghann Humphreys

What if we believed in the Life of Abundance instead of the Myth of Scarcity? How would that affect our peace of mind? What if we stopped counting and competing with one another?

To live abundantly is a huge shift in our culture. Blessing others with care and concern with the expectation that you won’t receive that back in this lifetime is counter-intuitive for many of us. However, that’s just what Jesus wants us to do. He wants us to stop keeping score and doing quid pro quo-type stuff. We need to do kind acts for which we know we won’t be repaid – taking care not to boast about it. Just become one who blesses and share the Life of Abundance. Don’t bless for the return, but out of knowledge that we have first been blessed.
