Sermon Summary for Sunday, September 25th | Respectfully Submitted by Meghann Humphreys
Does what we believe make any difference in our lives? Do we see people around us as worthy of dignity and respect?
The parable from Sunday’s reading is about the right use of our wealth and how it affects our relationships. We are the rich man walking by Lazarus every day. We knew Lazarus by name. However, we still manage to see Lazarus as a real person, worthy of dignity and respect.
Seeing is important since we can’t have compassion if we fail to see a person for who they really are: a child of God.
It’s hard to look at poverty, but it’s there. It’s not going away any time soon. We have impoverished people who walk through our doors. So, how do we respond to them? Do we see them as worthy of dignity and respect? Are we willing to be generous and share our talents with them?
