Robert Sims to Perform at Ascension Coffee House on September 10th

The entire community is invited to attend the September 10th Ascension Coffee House at The Episcopal Church of The Ascension, 205 West Cherokee Ave., in Cartersville. Robert Sims and Rick McKee will perform from 7-9 p.m. in the church parish hall.

A Cartersville native, Robert has been a fixture on the live music scene throughout the Northwest Georgia area for over two decades.  As lead singer for the group Scattered, Smothered, and Covered, he has engaged audiences, opening with his band for Three Dog Night, Otis Redding III, and The Charlie Daniels Band.  His performance in September will feature much of his favorite solo material, pulled from a deep repertory of meaningful music. While Robert’s ability on acoustic guitar is worthy of notice, he sees his commanding ability of delivering a lyric as his talent’s strongest suit.

Ascension Coffee House host musician, Rick McKee, will perform his original song material. From bluegrass, to great choral classics, to rock-and-roll, to the blues, Rick has been singing professionally and writing music for over 25 years. He has written songs for and played with such varied groups as the Brillo Brothers, Solomon's Gold, The Beat Cleavers and Canaan Ridge. His first CD, New Religion, features twelve songs of love, life and heartbreak set to hauntingly beautiful melodies and harmonies.  His second CD, Soft Horizons, is a collection of instrumental pieces composed and performed to accompany Sue Hopkins, Guided Yoga Practice.

You are invited to bring non-perishable food donations or dry pet food for the Ascension Food Pantry.  Dry pet food and gallon-size freezer bags are also requested for our needy four-legged friends.  Any cash tips and donations will benefit ministries in our community at Church of the Ascension.

Light snacks and drinks are provided.  Please join us for a wonderful evening of live music on Friday September 10th.  All are welcome!
