VESTRY MEETING
July 22, 2007

The Vestry met in the Parish Hall on July 22, 2007 at 1:30 pm. Attending were Fr. Tom Martin, Brenda Worley, Roxane Petron, Elizabeth Whitton, Tom Manner, Neal Brunt, Dan Baker, Nancy Zerbe, and Kelley Dial. Bev McGruder was excused. The meeting opened with prayer.

The Vestry shared some of the ways they have seen God at work in the last month.

The Rector presented the June Minutes. A motion was made by Dan Baker to accept the Minutes as presented. Elizabeth Whitton seconded and the motion carried.

Neal Brunt presented the Financial Report which reflects a $16,429.31 budget deficit for YTD. After some discussion, Neal Brunt made a motion that as Vestry Representative, he would ask the Finance Committee to take corrective action to segregate monies designated as I AM Fund from the general funds. Tom Manner seconded and the motion carried.

After discussion about what to do with these funds once segregated, Brenda Worley made a motion to authorize the Finance Committee to place these funds into a high-yield investment account such a one-year CD. Roxane Petron seconded and the motion carried.

After further discussion, Roxane Petron made a motion to transfer $5629.05 from the money market account (line item 1120) to general funds (line item 1015). Dan Baker seconded and the motion carried.

Following was discussion about establishing an audit committee. Brenda Worley made a motion to ask the Financial Committee to present the Vestry with a list of parishioners who would agree to serve on such a committee. Neal Brunt seconded and the motion carried.

There being no further discussion about the Financial Report, Kelley Dial moved it be accepted as presented. Nancy Zerbe seconded and the motion carried.

Ongoing Business

• Bev McGruder, Nancy Zerbe and David Horah have been nominated as Diocesan Delegates. Earl Newton, III has been nominated as the alternate.
• Mary Ann Franklin has agreed to chair the Vestry Nomination Committee
• Servant Ministry Budgets need to be submitted to Neal Brunt by October 14th.
• The Strategic Panning Committee will meet on September 8th at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Hall
• The Festival of Ministries will be held September 9th in the Parish Hall between services
• The Vestry needs to be aware of scheduling the 2008 budgeting process

New Business

• The Rector presented the April Report from the Diocese reviewing Canon 20 and how this outlines the Parish’s commitment to our Diocesan Pledge.
• The Rector said he was including a letter with the quarterly statements being mailed this month. In this letter he would communicate the financial challenges facing the Parish once again.

Written reports were received from the Servant Ministries.

Important Dates

• October 14th – Stewardship Campaign begins

The Rector presented his report and reminded the Vestry he would be on holiday for the month of August. There was no report from the Senior Warden as he was unable to attend. There being no further business the meeting adjourned with the prayer.
